Well I finally got through the Moran Brothers book by Brian Burford. You know when you watch these guys race you just don't appreciate everything else that goes on before they get out onto the track. This is a great book that doesn't needless dwell on the Moran's lapses, still doesn't avoid them either. These guys had fun and were fun, talent that people like me can only dream of. I have one beef with the book and that is the Don Godden incident. Not so much that it ended up in the book, it needed to be, more the point that the book left people with a bad impression of a man (Godden) who has done more for speedway in his lunch hour than most could achieve in a lifetime, and so at the very least the author could have put a picture of Shawn riding a Godden Longtrack bike. Man did Shawn Moran fly on a Longtracker. Godden 20x World Champions. Nuff said. If you are an American Speedway fan buy this book, worth every cent.
